Go Out on A School Night

A few weeks ago, I got a text from my husband saying that the Avett Brothers were coming to town and asked if I would be interested in seeing them in concert. I said yes, even though I wouldn’t say I am a die-hard fan, and neither is he. So, we bought tickets for their concert at The Hard Rock, and we went!

Now, I think by this point, all of you know how much I love pajamas and how much I hate going out after 7 PM any night. But I ended up having such a special night listening to great music with the man I love and sharing some beautiful memories.

On our way to the concert, we were listening to their songs, and I said how I hoped that they played this song called “Swept Away,” which was a song I was very familiar with because once upon a time, Miguel made me a mixed tape (really a CD) and that song was on it. He said that when he went to their concert 10-plus years ago, they didn’t play it, but I kept my hopes high.

We had to walk through the casino at the Hard Rock to get to the concert venue and my goddess. There were so many people, so much cigarette smoke, and a whole lifestyle I know nothing about, but to each their own. So, we get up to our seats, we are in the first few rows of the balcony, and we hold hands as we cry together as they play their first song called “Never Apart.” We continue enjoying ourselves, and I continue hoping they are going to play our song. They do! It was magic, as if they knew we were there and that Miguel had put that song on a CD for me so many years ago at the beginning of our love story. We sat there genuinely enjoying listening to some great music and just being together, doing something out of our norm. So, I guess what I wanted you to take away from this blog post is to do something you don’t usually do! Go out on a school night, stay up late, and just enjoy the moments you get to share with the people you love (I may or may not be crying at this point).

So, my little gift to you is the link to the song “Swept Away.” I hope you enjoy it!

Love always,

Your Cycle Breaker,

Emily
