We make decisions moment by moment in our life without even realizing we made one. Decisions always make me think of String Theory, which is the idea of alternate decisions that create alternate timelines. I was first introduced to this theory when I saw the play Constellations by Nick Payne. It is basically a whole play about a relationship between a man and a woman where we see alternate decisions play out and how those decisions affect their relationship differently. I was really taken by how one decision can change your life, and that idea has stuck with me for years since first seeing the play.
I think when we hear the word decision we hear the word permanent, which in some cases is true, but you can always make another decision to alter the effects of the first. What it comes down to is it’s our decision. We get to decide what path to follow, we get to decide if we want to improve, and we get to decide to leave a situation that is no longer serving us. To decide to change our future takes courage, but we can do it! We just have to be brave and make one decision at a time.
So it’s time to decide.
